A thematic route for 2-3 days? - 04/12/18 10:29 AM

Hi there,

I am looking for a nice thematic cycling route, somewhere between Frankfurt and Berlin schmunzel

We will be cycling Mainradweg in May and after it I will still have 2-3 spare days to use.

I would like to hear from you about a route focused on any topic or in any way characteristic (eg. former railway track), 120-150 km of its entire length, not hard to reach with train between mentioned cities.

And interesting enough to write about it on my travel blog :]

Will you help me? Danke :]

Perhabs the "Bahnradweg-Hessen" could be a possibility.

From Frankfurt/Main to the Fulda-Valley. The Cities Fulda and Frankfurt/Main are connectioned by regional trains every hour.

Hi Szymon,

the most of german cycling ways on former railway track you will find here:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Fahrradwegen_auf_stillgelegten_Bahntrassen#Baden-Württemberg.

If you in May in the south on the Mainradweg you could try to come to our Meeting:

Forumstreffen Himmelfahrt 2018 in Lauterbourg (Treffpunkt)

There will be 100 of us and you need only a tent and a bycicle.

Between Frankfurt an Berlin it is a little bit boring. Like Wielkopolksa.
You can use these way or some parts of it:

Depends on how fast you are and if you like mountains: After having finished the Bahnradweg (i.e. cycle path along a dismantled railway) mentioned by Matthias in Fulda you may continue on another former railway line into the Rhön mountains and down the Ulster and Werra rivers to reach the railway line Fulda - Bebra - Eisenach (- Erfurt and further east).

You may look here:

Sorry, not in english ...

You would have to take the train from Frankfurt then.

Or - you take the train from Frankfurt to Kassel and follow the "Weserradweg" afterwards. https://www.weser-radweg.de/

In the area around the city Münster you will find many good cycling routes. http://www.muensterland-tourismus.de/

We whish you a good tour!

Thank you very much for all your help.

Thanks to your suggestions, a year or two later, we have cycled BahnRadweg Hessen and we had a lot of fun there smile
